The load balancer manages the information flow between the server as well as the endpoint device by assisting servers in moving data effectively. Additionally, the server's ability to handle requests is evaluated, and if necessary, the load balancer eliminates the unreliable server until it is fixed. A load balancer can be a hardware appliance or a software-based virtual one, just as servers can be real or virtual. Requests are sent to the other servers when one server goes offline, and when a new server is launched, requests are immediately forwarded to it.

Network load balancing is the allocation of traffic at the transport level through the routing decisions, based on network factors such as IP address and destination ports. Such load balancing is TCP-based, or level 4, and it disregards all application-level factors such as content type, cookie information, headers, locations, application behavior, etc. Network load balancing solely considers the information at the network layer and directs traffic based on this, performing network addressing translations without checking the contents of individual packets.

In order to enhance network performance, load balancers are typically used in computer networking operations that distribute and control loads among a number of devices, resources, and services. Implementing a load balancer involves both software and hardware. A software load balancer is a device that uniformly distributes network traffic among several devices and network connections, such as a DNS load balancing solution, software-based switch, or router. Similar to software-based load balancers, hardware-based load balancers control task distribution over multiple devices to lessen or stabilize the overall load. They take the shape of physical switches, routers, or servers.

Load balancing has become an important part of doing business in the region, where it has become a necessity. Load balancers are already used by a lot of businesses, but emerging innovations are forcing load balancer makers to add new features and fix compatibility issues. Load balancers are being used more and more in all industries around the world because the number of software applications and the size and design of data centers is growing. In the Europe region, more people would desire to utilize cloud computing services which would rise the demand for load balancers.
